Its been awhile since I made an update.  Life has been extremely busy for me, which also means that I haven’t been giving my tank too much attention.  But guess what?  The UG are alive and spreading!  Go figure!  I’m excited that the UG are finally taking off so hopefully in another month or so, it will cover the entire tank.  I think it just took awhile for my tank to complete the cycle and for the UG to adjust.

I did buy two assassin snails as I was getting tired of catching all the ramshorn sails.  I also added two ottos to help with the algae.

Here is a picture of the tank:

I’m starting to see algae (not 100% sure what kind) growing on the UG on the far left of the tank.  This is the part of the tank that has the most flow.  I looking to add about 20 CRS (S+ and SS) in the next week so hopefully they will help?  I’m also looking to add some Amano shrimps as I was told that they do a better job with the algae.

Hi! I just found your blog. I really don’t see any algae in your photos, but a little is kind of a component of getting things started. You’ve done really well–utrics is really difficult to grow! Good luck!
